About Alta Vista Credit Union
Alta Vista began as The Norton Air Force Base Credit Union. It was originally chartered to provide a place for the civilians working at Norton to save money and receive credit. In 1959, the bylaws were changed to include military personnel stationed at Norton. Following that, the immediate families of current members were made eligible. We continued to add military and civil service groups, retirees of those groups and their immediate families.
In 1994, the Norton Air Force Base was shut down and the field of membership expanded and included 40 different SEG groups from companies in the area as well as including any military or federal employee anywhere in the world. We also expanded the eligibility to include "any family member of any person listed as eligible in the field of membership, including spouses, children, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, etc."
In July of 2000, the charter changed, allowing membership to include individuals who live, regularly work or worship within the counties of San Bernardino and Riverside.
Alta Vista has grown to over $146 million in assets, with over 13,000 member-owners.We have three branches to serve our members' needs-located in San Bernardino and Redlands, and are looking to expand into other areas.
Looking forward, Alta Vista's future is bright. With the solid base on which we have grown, and the potential for expanded membership, Alta Vista will continue to be a strong, viable, financial institution that will offer valuable products and services to the people it serves-its members.
