Stretch Your Money with a Savings Plan

The Challenge:
You want to buy a Nintendo Wii for $250, but you only receive $10 a week for your allowance. How will you afford to buy it?

The Solution:
Create a savings plan and start saving your money. Here’s how ...

  1. Determine Your Savings Goal.
Write down what you want to buy and how much it costs.

  2. Where’s the Money?
Figure out how much money you earn each week. Include money you earn from your allowance and part-time jobs. If you have a birthday coming up and you think you might get money, you can add that in.

  3. Make A Savings Commitment!
If you earn $10 a week, save at least $7 EVERY week to put toward your savings goal. Remember, the more money you save, the quicker you’ll reach your goal.

  4. Shop for the Lowest Price
Compare prices at different stores. You may find that Store A is more expensive than Store B.

  5. Stay Focused!
Keep your commitment to save money until you meet your savings goal. When you have the money you need, shop at the store with the best price, and then celebrate—you did it!
